So. Drove the Nissan to work today, since it's been starting up just fine; the incident on Thursday seemed like a fluke. So. I plan on going out for lunch, so I don't take anything with me. So. My boss asks that I not go out till after 1:00, since she'd be out till then. (I normally get lunch at noon, and in general I have to stay pretty close to that schedule to avoid the wobbles/possible headaches -- an hour, though, is usually reasonable.) All fine.
So. One o'clock rolls around, and I head out to the car feeling bright and chipper, if rather intensely hungry. I get into the car, and -- yeah. Nothin'. It's not even that it's failing to turn over, it's just doing nothing when the key's turned. Ha ha. So here's me, blood sugar taking a turn for the worse, almost nothing to eat, no way to go out OR get home later. Fortunately, I'd stashed a microwave soup cup in my desk in case of emergencies. Said Emergency Soup wound up both lukewarm and bland, but it did the trick in at least curbing my raging crankiness and oncoming headache and shakes. I was pretty well near collapse when Doug picked me up at 6:00, but dinner spruced me right up again (and gave me a stomachache; thanks for doing your part, stomach!). I realize this is all quite minor in the grand scheme of things, but I'm having a self-pitying sort of day today.
So now we've got a day and a half to get the Nissan fixed, since we'll be out of town over the weekend, starting Friday afternoon. And, of course, next week is one of the rare ones where we absolutely must have a second car, since Doug'll be in training all week. Sigh.
