Awww... but the best thing is... you can watch it all over again! :)

I loved it. Great series. Does kinda get old after a while but still gotta love it. =)

I recommend Gungrave BTW. I just finished that series last night =)

It's definitely ranked among my top favorite series. It'll be a great one to watch over again anytime I'm in need of cheering up. ;)

Doug's mentioned Gungrave -- I think he's downloaded some episodes. I'll have to watch them when I get a chance. We still have Scrapped Princess (which I've seen a few episodes of and have enjoyed) and Twelve Kingdoms in the DVD stack to watch.

I watched the first episode of Azumanga Daioh last night. I don't get it! I know it was originally a bunch of four-minute-long shorts, but the first episode didn't really pull me in. What's the draw? I hear so much about this series, I want to like it. ;)

Keep watching. Watch the first disc, then re-evaluate. It's really a show about nothing in particular, just these girls and how they interact with each other. There's really nothing to "get". :)

Okay, ya both talked me into it - I'll watch it through. :) Thanks for the recommendation!

Yeah, what Ricky said. The first episode didn't pull me in, either, but it's all setup -- the show is purely character-driven, which I love, but it takes a little time to get them established enough to really work. Once it does, it manages that particular magic of making you laugh just with a background reaction shot or a few beats of silence. Or it did with me, at least. Keep going a bit longer. I went from "huh?" to grinning just at the first few notes of the theme song (especially as I began to see that every moment in that opening animation is eventually explained).
