San Diego Comic Con!
Jul. 15th, 2003 10:31 pmWell, tomorrow morning in the early-am I leave for San Diego to stay with my old college roomie and go to the Comic Con. I am very much looking forward to it -- should be a really fun trip. I've packed a lot of -- oh. Just realized I haven't mentioned yet here that Doug and I started doing Atkins last Monday. We're in the second week of Induction right now, and feeling absolutely great. I've lost a pretty decent bit of weight already, and that's extremely encouraging. We didn't just jump on the bandwagon, mind you. 3 out of our collective 4 parents are on Atkins right now, with great success. I spent quite a lot of time reading up on it before we made the decision, so I don't feel we've just leapt blindly into it. The idea is to see what it does for us and how we feel, and so far we've both had a very positive response.
Anyway, so I've packed a lot of low-carb bars to take with me to San Diego, just so I have something I can eat/snack on if necessary without inconveniencing anyone too much. So far it's been pretty easy to stick with the diet while dining out (had some great grilled salmon and steamed veggies at Outback just tonight, in fact), but when traveling it can be difficult. While in Asheville over the weekend we had a bit of difficulty, because our host (my mother's longtime friend), kept trying to take us to some rather wacky little local cafes with extremely limited menus. Luckily, what with three in the group on Atkins (me, Doug, and my dad), we were able to get the group to places with options for us. I'll be without the aid of numbers on this trip, but my friend's pretty understanding and I think I'll be all right.
So...until Monday, when I get back from my trip (eaaaaaaaarrrrrly in the morning -- I'm leaving San Diego Sunday evening), that's all, folks.
