Snow!

Doug woke me up this morning with, "Go look out the window! Look out the window!" There was already a light layer of snow over everything outside, and the snow was still coming down steadily. The "light, early-morning snow" predicted for the day turned out to be heavy, nearly all-day snow. The car was covered in a three-inch blanket of the stuff!

The cat was fascinated, just as he was in New York -- and he had a much better view this time.

I think living in an apartment someplace like this is the ideal way to experience snow -- you don't have to walk everywhere on icy/slushy sidewalks, you don't have to wait half an hour in it on an exposed subway platform (the N and W are aboveground in Queens), and you don't have to SHOVEL it! I wiped the snow off the car with my arm in a matter of a few minutes.

Not to mention that the scenery's pretty nice even without it. The snow can be the enhancement to the landscape that it rightfully ought to be, rather than a mask that just makes it bearable. And I don't think there's anything lovelier than snow in the woods. I walked down to the little pine wood near the complex and let my fingers freeze a bit while I just took in the view. What a beautiful day.

pretty! :D

I just got back from Tahoe.  snow is fun when visited, but not when it comes to your home ;D

Nah, it's not so bad when it just visits for a couple of days. The day after the snowfall, all of the roads were completely clean and bone-dry. By today, the snow's almost entirely gone. It's hard to believe it looked like those pictures just a few days ago. :)

Heh heh -- I don't know, but I definitely want to be there to see it. ;) I've gotta say, I don't mind a real winter when it behaves itself as nicely as this one has so far.
